My heart is the womb.
Your Word is the groom.
Speak, Lord, for your servant hears.
Know in me your perfect love,
Covering my shame,
Casting out my fear.
Almighty power
Overshadow me.
Even as you spoke,
Yes, Lord, let it be.
The things that are
Have been brought to nothing;
This even so,
By things that still are not.
Out of nothing seen,
Father, your voice made
All things then and now,
All things yet to be.
I do not know
My right hand from my left;
My own actions
I do not understand.
When I desire to do what is right,
Behold— close at hand— evil lies in wait.
Its desire is ever against me.
The prowler roars, seeking to devour!
Lord, who will free me
From this foolish body,
From its failing flesh,
From my mortal members,
Fallen prone to death?
Forgive me, Father,
For I know not what I do.
Even now,
Lord, condemn me not.
Jesus, Son of God,
Do as you have done;
Even now,
Do as you will do.
Fully realize all right relation,
What right instruction fully requires.
My flesh is no help at all;
The Spirit gives life.
The words that you speak, Jesus,
Are spirit and life.
I am raised with you;
Set my mind on your Spirit.
Though my body may be dead,
From going astray
And in weakness falling short,
He is your life, and
He is your peace, and
Faithfully, your love abides.
Guide me into all the truth,
"I will tell of the decree..."
What is yours, let him take and
Declare it for your glory.
Set upon the flesh,
There is only rebellion
And hostility to God.
It will not submit to God;
Indeed, it cannot.
Wash me and renew me by your Spirit:
Generously, lavishly, richly so.
Set my mind on you, the Christ,
Who are my resurrection and my life.
At his unveiling,
We appear with him
As one body, whole:
Holy made and wholly saved,
Borne by one God, for one Lord,
Born of him and borne by him,
He the only Author of salvation.
We appear with him,
Born again, borne as his friend,
Born to live forever for his glory,
Born again, borne to the end,
By the power preached of in his story.
Speak, Lord, and draw near,
For your servant hears.
Speak, as to your friend:
Face to face,
Shining forth your countenance in glory,
Even as it was in the beginning,
Is now, and ever shall be.
Speak of your world without end,
Yes, speak, Lord, as to your friend.
Walk with us and go with us.
What would be the sign of your favor, Lord,
But that you go with your inheritance,
In our midst,
The Holy One of Israel alive?
Exalt your name!
Not by this world's strength,
Nor by this world's might;
Only by your Spirit's light.
Lord, let us listen with all diligence.
You are One; your name is One.
Lord, let us listen listen:
"Every day, in every way,
Shema shema, Israel;
Shema shema, you who wrestle with God."
Lord, we thirst.
Please, turn this vinegar and sour wine
To living waters: holy, pure, divine.
Lord, we thirst.
Let us come and drink
Your priceless living waters.
We have no gift to offer.
For what could a man offer,
Justly weighed out,
In exchange for his soul?
Let us drink without payment.
Let us drink the water you give freely,
That we may never die of thirst again—
Give us this water always!
From our hearts
Let flow the river of life,
For we come to you, to the mercy seat.
Turn the many flood waters
Set apart to cleanse away the bloodshed
Into new wine for your bride,
Adorned for adoration, pure and true,
At the King's long-awaited wedding feast,
Her garments perfectly white,
Made brilliant by the Lamb's atoning life.
The best has been saved for last,
This first of signs you performed:
The first shall be last;
The last shall be first.
The first love's first fruits, at last,
Are fully multiplied: all things made new.
O Bridegroom, you know,
How we long—
How we thirst!
Come, Emmanuel:
God With Us.
Come, Lord, for the virgin daughter Zion
Encircles the Son.
The labor pains besiege us;
The hour of his crowning,
Draws ever nearer.
Travail and tribulation take over;
The hour of rebirth,
Now is near,
Now is here.
Come, O King of Kings,
Come, be exalted!
Come, let us bow in worship!
Come and make with us
Your steadfast, sure covenant.
Come, establish your mercies,
Son of David, Son of Man, Son of God.
