The business of how and for who

I don't know
the right business
to be busy with
as we go about our business
in this world so busily at work.

But I know you know
the right mind
with which to mind that business:
not to be a busybody,
but to mind our own business well;
to be both diligent and generous,
heartily and humbly
working from the heart,
with joyful heart content
at whatever our hand finds to do;
not grasping with all force,
both hands striving after wind,
but to leave a palm at rest,
open to receive as much as give.

I do not know
what earthly matters
are best to attend;
but I know you know
the weighty matters matter most;
and that the weightiest of all,
concerns the weight of Spirit
weighed out in every breath.

I know less about the "what",
but I know you know
more about the "how"
and in what way
and for whom.

The "whats" all pass away
as quickly as they are
supposed, seen, and seized;
but the "how" and "who"
seem to stay around forever;
for the "who" is you
and the "how" is how you are:
the Eternal One— the Way—
presently at work in us
with steadfast love today.
