Forgiver

 

Forgiver,

You said, "Forgive them, Father, they know not what they do." 
You make provision for forgiveness.
You invite reconciliation and you bear the burden: you pay the price.
"Your sins are forgiven you..." with power to heal.

We receive forgiveness free to us.
We must offer forgiveness free to others.
We make excuses; you make opportunities.

You make peace:
"When a man's ways please the LORD,
he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him."
"Search me and see if there be any grievous way in me.
Lead me in the everlasting way."
"Am I in the place of God?
What you meant for evil,
God meant for good,
that many lives might be saved."
"The chastisement that fell on him brought us peace."

Are you passive?
... or are you active?

In your suffering you receive wounds;
in your prayer you embody mercy.
