Illumined with trust

Father, Son and Spirit bright,

Yours is the power and yours is the might,
Your mercies endow miraculous light:
clairvoyance you give, discernment and sight;
darkness beheld as clarity perfect,
deepest abyss as luminous surface.

You see all that is; you see all things clear,
as truly they are, as naked and near—
unhindered by shadows falsely adorning,
dark trappings that twist, ever distorting;
the things which are not cease their contorting.

You have the power to bring into light,
what is, as it is; your vision is right.

Perform the miracle of true knowing,
by your true light, all truth truly showing:
the reverence of truth, the love of your name,
turns us from darkness, light making us wake.

Wisdom's child, the light of truth making just,
understands and turns, illumined with trust:

The one heaven sent,
his life blameless spent;
his flesh torn and rent,
to sheol he went.
Forgiving our shame,
you raised him again;
exalted he reigns,
his glory proclaim!
The dawn in his voice,
shines through all the noise;
sing out and rejoice,
for righteousness poised!

To bury our sin he was anointed.
To raise us in light he was appointed.
Now high above all this Jesus who came;
in darkness he shines, salvation his name.

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Messiah will shine on you.”

The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.
